‘Extremely dangerous’: Multiple people spotted riding on moving GO train

Several people were seen riding a GO train Tuesday night in Etobicoke, according to police.

Officers said they received reports of two to three people riding the westbound GO train near the Gardiner Freeway and Dufferin Street shortly before 6 p.m., along with similar reports from the Long Branch Station, near Brow Drive.

Police called this activity “extremely dangerous.”

Metrolinx said it is aware of these reports and is currently investigating the CCTV footage.

“At this time there is no impact on our GO train service. This is an extremely dangerous action that we take very seriously. Not only can you face hefty fines if you’re caught, but you can also pay the ultimate price if you engage in these dangerous practices,” a Metrolinx spokesperson told CTV News Toronto.

Police are en route to the scene, along with the GO Train Special Constable.

There were also reports of a trespasser between the Exhibition and Mimico GO stations at 5 p.m. Lakeshore West Train said local police have asked operators to stop rail traffic in the area.

About 15 minutes later the tracks started moving again.

Earlier this month, the TTC launched an investigation into an “incredibly reckless stunt” involving two masked men carrying Canadian flags “surfing” on the roof of a moving subway train.
