Firefighters are battling more blazes in London after record temperatures left the ground around the capital parched.
Two grass fires have broken out in south-east London – in West Wickham and Bexleyheath.
Ground workers in West Wickham battled with a tractor to create a ‘fire break’ in the field as fire crews tackled the blaze.
In Bexleyheath, six fire engines and around 40 firefighters battled the blaze in a wooded triangle between houses.
Residents were told to stay indoors as smoke billowed through the streets near Longleigh Lane.
About two hectares of grass and bushes are said to have been set on fire. There are no reports of casualties.

London Fire Brigade said the blaze was under control but crews would remain at the scene for the time being.
It comes a week after a major London-wide emergency was declared following a “huge spike” in fires caused by the heatwave, which saw temperatures reach 40C (104F) for the first time.
