Deebo Samuel and the San Francisco 49ers have reportedly agreed to a three-year, $71.55 million contract extension that could go up to $73.5 million. That puts Samuel’s average annual salary for the rookie years between $23.85 million and $24.5 million.
Samuel is due a base salary of $3.87 million in 2022, the final year of his rookie contract. Where does Samuel rank now among 49ers players by average salary when looking at just his extension money? He takes the No. 2 spot, becoming the first since the 49ers delisted quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

Earlier this morning, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero shared the latest on Deebo Samuel and his contract extension, saying that while no deal has been finalized, both the 49ers and Samuel’s camp continue to talk about a long-term deal before Tuesday when the players the 49ers must report to training camp. “No deal has been finalized yet, but the 49ers are continuing to talk with Deebo Samuel’s agent Torey Dendy about a long-term contract extension that would keep him in San Francisco.
