Love Island FINALE: The 2022 series crowns its winner

Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti have won Love Island 2022 and will share the £50,000 prize money.

The pair finished ahead of Gemma Owen, 19, and Luca Bish, 23, who came second and narrowly missed out on the cash, with bosses deciding to ditch the split or steal twist that usually comes at the end.

In previous years, winners have chosen an envelope containing the prize money or nothing, with one person in the pair receiving £50,000 with the option to ‘split or steal’ the money.

Winner, winner! Ekin-Su and Davide have won Love Island 2022 and will share the £50,000 cash prize

This year presenter Laura Whitmore, 37, announced they would automatically split the money as producers opted to ditch the tradition which has been in place since series one.

When the news was announced, an emotional Ekin-Su, 27, jumped into her Italian friend’s arms as they celebrated their victory, while a speechless David, also 27, exclaimed he “can’t believe it”.

Congratulations poured in for the genetically blessed couple as viewers celebrated their win on social media, admitting they thought “the right couple won”.

Wow! Host Laura wrapped her arms around David and Ekin-Su after their victory

While another person said: “I actually think Ekin-Su and Davide might be my favorite couple on Love Island.”

A third said: “Congratulations Ekin-Su and Davide. The Turkish Delight and the Italian Stallion went and won!’

While Ekin-Su and Davide seemed the obvious choice for viewers, they joked that Luca looked shocked by the news.

Luca was jeered by viewers who watched his puzzled reaction after realizing he hadn’t won.

The fishmonger couldn’t hide his confusion when Ekin-Su and Davide were crowned winners, while Gemma clapped politely as they accepted second place.

Sharing a screenshot on Twitter, fans of the show joked that he would soon be asking for a recount, while questioning whether he “actually thought he was going to win.”

They wrote: “WHY THE HELL IS HE PULLING THAT FACE, HE THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO WIN” and “Luca wants to speak to a manager about a recount.”

Others added: “Luca was humbled by Ekin-Su and Davide’s win. The satisfaction is real and Luca will sit us down and ask us why we didn’t vote for them.

“Then again, are you serious why can’t Luca just be happy for Ekin and Davide at least until the end of the show.”

More chimed in with, “I’M FRAMING THIS AND HANGING IT IN THE LOUVRE” and “Luca thinks he’s got the winnings in his pocket.”

“Did he really think he was going to win?” Luca was mocked by viewers who watched his bemused reaction after finding out he hadn’t won Love Island 2022 during Monday’s final

Asked what Eakin plans to do if she wins, she wrote in a text: “At the end of the day it’s a game show, it’s a business. If it’s not real, I’ll be tempted.

“But I’m at the right age to find the right person. I know what I’m looking for. I want to find the One.

However, from the looks of it, Ekin-Soo certainly seems to have found the one as she falls in love with her new friend.

Ekin-Su said of being in the bottom two of this year’s Love Island: “It feels so surreal to find the man of your dreams and just grow.”

Talking about what she likes most about David, she added: “Besides the perfect body, I would definitely say he had an instant spark and a real butterfly feeling.”

Tempting! Before entering the villa, Ekin-Soo had told a friend how she would be “tempted” to steal the entire prize if her relationship wasn’t real

Beloved! However, by the looks of it, Ekin-Soo must have found the one as she fell in love with her new friend

According to reports, Ekin-Soo needn’t worry about splitting the prize as pundits predict she will become the richest Love Island contestant ever – even surpassing Molly-May Hague.

A source said: “There is a pretty well-trodden path for Love Island winners. For the past seven series, it’s been the usual fast fashion, drugstore make-up and then, of course, teeth whitening and protein shakes.

“Only Molly-May really and truly broke that model, but even she eventually found a home in High Street fashion brand Pretty Little Thing, albeit on a salary of £250,000.

“Ekin’s attraction to brands seems to have transcended all that. Not only clothing brands, but also major global corporate brands want to work with her. She will be a very, very busy girl.
