A surgeon from Great Ormond Street Hospital has helped to successfully separate conjoined twins using virtual reality technology.
Noor ul Owase Jeelani, a Kashmiri-British pediatric neurosurgeon, was involved in the operation of Bernardo and Arthur Lima, three-year-old twins born with fused brains.
The family, who are from Brazil, were initially told the operation would not be possible. Bernardo and Arthur would be the oldest children to undergo such a procedure, and they share vital veins in the brain.

The operation is the sixth successful separation by a team funded by the Gemini Untwined charity, the most of any team in the world.
