Voters across Kansas received a mysterious text message from an unknown source Monday urging them to vote yes on Tuesday’s question about the state’s abortion policy, according to the Kansas City Star. The message tells recipients, “Women in KS are losing their reproductive rights choices. A YES vote on the amendment will give women a choice. Vote YES to protect women’s health.” The only problem, of course, is that it’s actually just the opposite: A yes vote would mean “there is no constitutional right to abortion in Kansas,” according to the ballot language. A “no” vote, meanwhile, would have meant keeping the state’s current constitutional language that protects a woman’s right to an abortion. The Star reported that the main anti-abortion groups in Kansas — the Value Them Both coalition; Kansans for Life; and Operation Rescue – all denied sending the text. “I guess there’s a lot of people trying to confuse people on both sides,” said Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue.
