The tornado warning issued by Environment Canada on Wednesday for the Barrie, Collingwood and Hillsdale area has ended, and the tornado warning issued for the Grey-Bruce area has been downgraded to a watch.
Environment Canada said conditions were favorable for the development of “severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes” in Grey-Bruce.

“Strong winds, large hail and heavy rain are also possible,” the watch said.
The agency said the areas affected were Bruce Peninsula, Sauble Beach, Tobermory, Hanover, Dundalk, South Gray County, Owen Sound, Blue Mountains, North Gray County, Saugeen Shores, Kincardine and South Bruce County.
Environment Canada said wind gusts of up to 100 km/h were possible, as well as hail the size of ping-pong balls.

A tornado watch is also in effect for Innisfil, New Tecumseth, Angus, Shelburne, Mansfield and North Dufferin counties.

“torrential rains” with rainfall amounts exceeding 50 millimeters are also possible, the agency warned.

Environment Canada warned the public to “be prepared for severe weather.”
“Take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches,” the watch says.
A rainfall warning is also in effect for the Grey-Bruce area and a severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect for the Barrie, Orillia and Midland areas.
