When Julien Duclét came home from his job in a medical research laboratory, he found two strangers in the pool in his garden.
Duclay, from Toulouse in southwest France, told the couple, who had brought drinks with them, that they were on private property and asked them to leave.
“But they said, ‘No, no, it’s just water. Don’t worry, we will make the most of it,” he told TV channel TF1.
Duclay’s plight is increasingly common in a country where pool squatting has been described by La Dépêche du Midithe south-west regional daily, as a ‘national sport’.
