Morebus will take over Yellow Buses routes 1/1b, 1a, 2, 4, 5/5a, 6/6a and 737.
Morebus managing director Andrew Wickham also announced that yellow bus drivers worried about their jobs could apply for a new one with increased pay.
Tickets purchased by yellow bus passengers will also be valid on Morebus buses until Saturday 13 August.

Morebus will take over the main yellow bus routes from Saturday
Mr Wickham said Morebus was “saddened” to learn fellow bus operator Yellow Buses would cease trading from Thursday evening after administrators were brought in on Friday 29 July.
He added: “I can assure local people and visitors to the area that Morebus is now ready to step in to ensure bus users can still get where they need to go.
“We have moved additional vehicles into the area to provide the service required – including 15 brand new Euro 6, low emission, buses which Morebus and Bournemouth University have invested in.
“They were delivered ahead of schedule and are ready to go – so our current fleet can be used to fill the gaps left by the yellow buses.
Yellow buses stop on all routes from Thursday evening
“For Yellow Bus drivers who are concerned about their careers, I am pleased to announce that Morebus is increasing their pay from next Sunday to £13.00 an hour. And for a limited time we’ll continue to offer our £2,000 welcome bonus to anyone who joins with a PCV licence.
“These benefits are not limited to Yellow Buses drivers – but apply to all drivers who wish to join our team. For anyone not yet licensed, no problem, we can provide full training. We also have vacancies for Depot Maneuvers/Cleaners, Engineers and Customer Service Assistants.
“Initially we are introducing a temporary, emergency timetable – to keep people moving and ensure there are no gaps in bus services in the area. However, we plan to increase service levels as soon as possible.”
From Saturday 6 August, Morebus will run the following services:
Routes 1/1b – Bournemouth to Christchurch, Two Riversmeet via Boscombe, Fishermans Walk, Southbourne (1) to Cranleigh Road, (1b) to Tuckton every 30 minutes each. The general sections of the routes will be every 15 minutes. The Westbourne, Branksome & Poole section will not operate, but our more m1/m2 bus routes serve these areas up to every seven minutes.
Route 1a – Bournemouth to Somerford via Boscombe, Iford, Barrack Road and Christchurch every 15 minutes. The section which was operating to Highcliffe and New Milton will see it operating, but customers can use the existing Morebus X1/X2 routes.
Route 2 – Bournemouth to Castlepoint via station, Springbourne, Boscombe, Iford, Royal Bournemouth Hospital and Townsend Estate (does not serve Townsend Estate in the evening) up to every 30 minutes. The section which served past Castlepoint to Moordown, Kinson & Bearwood will not operate, but customers can use Morebus route 14 between Royal Bournemouth Hospital, Castlepoint and Kinson instead. Route 6a will link Kinson and Bearwood.
Route 4 – Bournemouth to Castlepoint via station, Winton, Moordown and Muskliffe every 30 minutes. This route will then continue as route 2 so those requiring Royal Bournemouth Hospital and Iford can stay on the same bus. However, he will not continue to Christchurch.
Route 5/5a – Bournemouth to Kinson via station, Charminster, Winton, Annsbury Park, East Howe (5) to Cunningham Crescent, Columbia Road (5a) to McLean Road and Moore Avenue. It will run every 30 minutes on each route and every 15 minutes on the common sections.
Route 6/6a – Bournemouth to Kinson via Station, Winton, University, Wallisdown, High Howe & Bearwood every 30 minutes. Extension from Kinson to Wimborne (6) and Bearwood (6a) to every hour.
Route 737 – Bournemouth to Airport via Station, Winton, Moordown, Parley & Aviation Park. There will be two morning trips to the airport and three afternoon return trips.
