Seth Meyers returned to Late Night this Wednesday after taking a week off to recover from his second bout of COVID. And while he couldn’t cover everything he missed while he was gone, he wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity to make a few brutal jokes about a photo of Donald Trump looking a little worse for wear during his recent golf tournament sponsored by Saudi Arabia .
Midway through an unrelated piece about Trump’s double endorsement of “ERIC” in the Missouri GOP Senate primary, Myers noted that both Eric Greitens and eventual winner Eric Schmidt “bragged that they were endorsed by Trump, man , who is once again not only under multiple active criminal investigations for inciting a coup to overthrow American democracy, but is also starting to look less like a former president and more like a picture of Nick Nolte.
“I mean, is his head getting smaller, or is his hat getting bigger?” asked the host. “It looks like his hat is some kind of organism that’s feeding on his blood. Look how pale he is! He looks like he’s starring in Martin McDonagh’s next film as the ghost of an Irish priest opposite Colin Farrell.
But he wasn’t done yet. “Look, I know they say all presidents age fast,” Myers said, “but Trump looks like he’s half off the face of Raiders of the Lost Ark. As if they opened the Ark, his face began to melt, but then he closed it very quickly. But then his face just stayed like that.
It wasn’t until Meyers did an extended impression of Trump, recounting how he had to open the Ark of the Covenant to look for Hunter Biden’s laptop, that he felt ready to return to more substantial news like the results of Tuesday’s primaries.
