Strictly Come Dancing has announced the first two contestants to take part in the 2022 series.
Former Hollyoaks and Coronation Street star Will Mellor was the first star confirmed to be taking to the dance floor when the show returns.
Speaking about her new venture, the Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps star said: “I’m honestly so excited to be on Strictly Come Dancing this year!

“I’m not going to lie, it’s completely out of my comfort zone and I know it’s going to be a huge challenge, but that’s what life is all about.
“It’s also my mum’s favorite show and she’s had some really tough years so I’m doing this for her too. Come on!”
He will be joined by Coronation Street’s Kym Marsh, who was the second celebrity announced that morning.
The former Hear’Say star said: “I’ve been thinking about doing Strictly for years but the timing never worked out. I’m so glad they did it this year!

“I’m a huge fan of the show and I can’t believe I’m going from watching at home in my pajamas to actually dancing in front of the judges in a sparkly dress. This is unreal!”
Will has had a long career as an actor, first coming to prominence in children’s show Children’s Ward in 1990. He then joined Hollyoaks as one of the original characters Jumbo Bolton in 1995, before appearing in Casualty, Waterloo Road and Broadchurch.
Mellor joined Coronation Street last year as villain Harvey Gaskell.
The character was jailed but managed to break out of jail and return to the cobblestones during their dramatic Super Soap Week. The return was short-lived as Harvey ended up back in prison.

Speaking about whether he would return to Weatherfield again, Mellor said: “I was all for killing Harvey. It would have been a good ending. I wanted to go in, make a shot and get out.
“It was great playing Cory’s villain. I feel like I accomplished a career goal with this and my mom was so proud of me.
“I’m open to anything and excited to see what comes [next]. Family time is precious to me, so it has to be the right thing. I’d love to do a movie, more drama or play another villain.”

Marsh was last seen on the cobbles as Michelle Connor in 2019. Since then she has done presenting work, including Morning Live and appeared in The Syndicate, and will star in the upcoming revival of Waterloo Road.
When asked earlier this year about a potential return to Coronation Street, the star said she was open to the idea.
“Well, who knows? I mean, I’m on Waterloo Road now – I’ve just started filming for it,’ she replied. “But you know, I really do have a soft spot for Corey, and one day I have no doubt I’ll be stepping on the cobblestones again.”
