Kim Kardashian ended her contract with Pete Davidson nine months after they started dating, and the news hit the internet like a ton of bricks on Friday night.
The development caught many off guard as the story broke amid multiple signs and social media posts that seemingly painted the relationship as going strong.
Naturally, fans and haters alike of the now-former couple took to Twitter to joke, deal and generally vent about the breakup between the reality star, 41, and the comedian, 28 — a free-for-all that was in part fueled by the two celebrities’ well-documented and perhaps scandalous dating histories.
Most important to countless viewers on Twitter was Kanye West – who has not taken his ongoing divorce case with Kardashian lightly – and how he might react to the news.

Instead of accepting the reality that the Skims entrepreneur might actually be moving on from the “Runaway” artist, Ye instead launched a barrage of insults at Davidson and attempted to smear him with false rumors — at one point even menacingly fantasizing about death his in newly released tunes.
“Did Pete and Kim really break you up? i just KNOW my boy kanye kisses them with crystals rn😭,” one fan tweeted, sarcastically implying that Ye went through mystical efforts to spur the end of the relationship.
“Kanye is watching [sic] on my phone seeing kim and pete ready,” wrote another, sharing a photo of the “Heartbreak” rapper, 45, grinning ear to ear.

Elsewhere, tweets mocked the King of Staten Island star’s long track record of mostly short-lived romances with a number of actresses, models and, of course, ex-fiancée Ariana Grande.
“Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson have split. Do you know what that means? Eventually, every woman in the world will have to date Pete Davidson. It’s just not your turn yet,” one post satirically suggested.
It’s also no secret that Davidson has a penchant for drawing memories of his girlfriends on his skin — often just months after meeting them.
“Pete has tattooed every woman he’s been with, it’s like collecting endless stones at this point 💀,” another user noted, posting a photo of Marvel villain Thanos superimposed with the text of his vile tagline “I’m inevitable” .
One of the four (!) Kim-era tattoos Davidson got in honor of his ex-girlfriend, which read “My girl is a lawyer,” was the target of gentle ribbing. “Not sure who Pitt will end up with, but I hope his next wife is a lawyer,” one commenter snarled.

Another section of users expressed sincere disappointment with the update.
“I liked them. I didn’t expect it to last, but I thought they were cute together,’ one admitted.
Another Pete-Kim Stan echoed the sentiment: “WHAT!!! I rolled them up! I thought it was good for Kim to have someone like Pete who is cool and humble.”
