It’s a non-binding season on the NFL depth chart, and the Steelers rolled one. With the quarterback competition continuing, the first unofficial hierarchy officially puts Mitchell Trubisky at the top of the stack.
He’s No. 1, Mason Rudolph is No. 2, and rookie Kenny Pickett comes in at No. 3.
Trubisky has been a consistent starter throughout camp. As Peter King said last weekend, Trubisky essentially said it was his job to lose.
Although the team’s first-round draft pick is buried (for now) on the depth chart, second baseman George Pickens is listed as one of the team’s three starting receivers. Another rookie, Calvin Austin III, lands on the fourth string.
Trubisky, the second overall pick in 2017, spent four years with the Bears before becoming a free agent. He served as Josh Allen’s backup in Buffalo last year. He signed a two-year contract with the Steelers at the start of free agency.
