In March 2021, Sparsh was in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. On the morning of the journey to his ancestral home, more than 100 kilometers (60 miles) away, he rose early. He wore a traditional blue salwar kameez and a white turban rolled in a special way. He had seen a picture of Ishar’s father – his great-grandfather – and wanted to return to his village like him. He got into a taxi with two friends and they drove off. Sitting in the back seat, Sparsh clutched a map his grandfather had given him, sketched from old memories.
