A two-year-old boy was seriously injured when he fell from the balcony of an apartment building in Mississauga on Friday afternoon.
But the toddler is expected to survive.
Peel Regional Police say officers responded to a “medical assist” call at the apartment building at 2111 Roche Ct. — near Erin Mills Pkwy. and Dr. Fowler — about 5:15 p.m. and found the badly injured boy on the ground.
Few details were immediately released, but reports indicated the child jumped from a third-story balcony and landed on the grass below.
The toddler was rushed to a pediatric trauma center in serious condition with what police initially said were potentially life-threatening injuries.
But cops later said on Twitter that the boy’s injuries were no longer considered life-threatening.

It is not known if the child lives in the building or how he fell from the balcony.
“We’re going to look at all of those things. Who was home? And what exactly happened? And it’s a tragic, tragic incident,” Const. Heather Cannon told reporters at the scene.
Although investigators have interviewed some witnesses, she urged anyone with information who has not yet spoken to police to come forward.
“At this point, we’re continuing to investigate,” Cannon said. “The scene is being held for further investigation.”
