There are currently two multi-million dollar Lotto Max prizes sold in Toronto that have yet to be claimed, OLG says.
One, worth $55 million, is from Friday’s drawing, and the other, worth $70 million, is from the June 28 drawing.
In addition to these big prizes, a winning encore ticket from last night’s drawing, valued at $100,000, is waiting to be claimed after it was sold somewhere in Chatham-Kent.
The next Lotto Max draw will take place on Tuesday.
WHAT HAPPENS IF NO ONE GET THE PRIZES?
In an email to CTV News Toronto, OLG director of external communications Tony Bitonti said it’s unusual for a prized winning ticket to go unspoken.
If the ticket holder doesn’t show up, Bitonti said unclaimed money will be returned to players through future bonus games or promotions.
He said that while there are a number of reasons why a winning ticket may not be redeemed, it is usually because it has been lost or forgotten.
“Many tickets are forgotten in kitchen drawers or jacket pockets (especially as the seasons change). For example, you buy your ticket on a particularly cold spring day and put it in your jacket pocket, but then the weather turns warm and the jacket goes into the wardrobe and the ticket is forgotten,” he said.
