FIREFIGHTERS were called to tackle an ‘intentional’ grass fire at a popular Southend park.
Crews were called to Garons Park in Southend yesterday afternoon following reports of a grass fire.
Upon arrival at approximately 5:45 p.m., firefighters confirmed that approximately two hectares of grass and heathland were on fire.
Essex Fire believe the fire may have been deliberate.

Two crews from Southend and one from Shoebury battled the fire for almost an hour.
They used hose reels and a water backpack to extinguish the fire by 6:20 p.m.
A spokesman for Essex Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews were called to tackle grass fires at Garons Park in Southend earlier today.
“We believe this fire may have been deliberately caused.
