2 killed in crash in Langley

Two people are dead after their vehicle was “pushed” into an intersection and hit by a truck Saturday in Langley, according to RCMP.

Police were called to the intersection of 32nd Avenue and 196th Street around 5 p.m., according to the squad.

The investigation revealed that the Volkswagen was struck by an SUV, which witnesses said “may have run a stop sign,” according to a news release issued Sunday. The impact appeared to push the car into oncoming traffic, “where there was a secondary collision with a large Dodge truck,” he continued.

Both occupants of the car died at the scene and have been identified as a Surrey man and woman, both in their 50s.

The people in the other two cars were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Witnesses who have not yet spoken to investigators and anyone who has dash cam footage from the area are urged to call 604-532-3200.
