Calgary police have laid charges in a brutal attack last month that left a man dead, saying the victim and the accused were roommates.
Officers were called to a home in the 1900 block of Cottonwood Crescent SE around 3 a.m. Friday, July 8, for reports of a man in medical distress.
The victim, Kevin Allen Honish, 55, of Calgary, was taken to hospital in serious condition but later died from his injuries.
Investigators believe Honish was assaulted at a home in the 2500 block of 10 Avenue SE after an argument with his roommate.
Colin Dean Oxtoby, 48, has been charged with second-degree murder and is due in court on August 10.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Calgary Police Service’s non-emergency line at 403-266-1234 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
