A mudslide closed Highway 1 in British Columbia’s Fraser Canyon Wednesday evening.
DriveBC says a mudslide has closed the Trans-Canada Highway in both directions between Lytton – located about 150 kilometers northeast of Vancouver – and Spence Bridge, from Highway 8 to Highway 12.
There is no detour available and grade assessment will be done at first sight, DriveBC said.
Witnesses say it was raining heavily before the mudslide hit the road.

DriveBC initially reported flooding in the Ashcroft, Spences Bridge and Lytton area around 8:30 p.m.
Environment Canada radar showed moderate to heavy rain over the rink area between 19:10 and 19:50
