Keep your head up! Perseid meteor shower peak this week! – HighRiverOnline.com

Get ready to make a bunch of wishes this week because we’re going to be catching a lot of shooting stars here in the Foothills.

Although the long-awaited annual Perseid meteor shower begins in mid-July and will have a show until the end of August, it will be at its peak this week!

The International Meteor Organization predicts that Alberta residents will see the most meteors streak across the night sky from August 12 to 13.

So prepare your wishes!

Stargazers will also be able to get a good look at the last supermoon of the year, but be warned that it may unfortunately affect seeing the Perseids at the “best” time.

However, with 50-100 meteors falling per hour, viewers are bound to see something!

So, escape the city lights, enjoy some fresh air and enjoy the show!
