Bridge replacement to close section of Highway 417 for more than three days

A section of Highway 417 will be closed Thursday evening and will remain closed until Monday morning as construction crews replace the bridge over Booth Street.

The City of Ottawa says the closure is expected to cause “significant traffic impacts.”

Interstate 417 will be fully closed in both directions between Metcalfe Street and Kirkwood Avenue beginning at 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 11. The stretch of motorway will reopen at 6am on Monday 15 August.

Lane reductions and ramp closures are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. Thursday with full closures an hour later. Several municipal road closures will also be required for the construction project. Between them:

• Booth Street will be closed between Daniel McCann Street and Arlington Street until August 25.

• Raymond Street will be closed between Lebreton Street North and Rochester Street. The section between Booth Street and Rochester Street will not reopen until October 30.

• Rochester Street will be closed between Gladstone Avenue and Aberdeen Street from 6pm on August 11 until 6am on August 15.

Detours will be in place for eastbound and westbound Interstate 417 traffic during the closure.
