Paramedics say 12 people suffered minor injuries this afternoon when a Toronto Island ferry crashed while approaching a downtown terminal.
Toronto Paramedic Services spokeswoman Jennifer Dart said five of the injured were taken to hospital for treatment, but none of the injuries were considered serious.

City police said the crash happened around 5 p.m. as the boat approached Jack Layton Dock in the city center.

Toronto Fire Chief Stefan Powell says there were more than 900 passengers on board at the time, adding that no one fell into the water.
The cause of the crash was not immediately known.

Powell says the investigation will determine whether the ferry suffered any damage.
