iPhone 14, Apple Watch Series 8 and more

On September 7, Apple will hold its traditional event. Although there are several products that the company could be preparing, two of them are the ones that people are expecting the most: the iPhone 14 series and the Apple Watch Series 8. Here is what Apple may announce at its “Far Out” event in September.

iPhone 14 at Apple’s event in September

The iPhone 14 series will be the star of Apple’s September “Far Out” event. With four new models about to be unveiled, expect a lot of buzz from the new iPhone 14 Plus/Max. While the regular models won’t have much difference from the current generation iPhone 13, a larger model would be a nice addition.

Expect big changes for the iPhone 14 Pro at Apple’s event in September, as reported by 9to5Mac. With a new design, a better processor and huge improvements on the camera side, the iPhone 14 series is likely to be one of Apple’s biggest introductions in years.

Latest rumors about the iPhone 14 models

Over the past few weeks, 9to5Mac has reported that while there will be no price increase for the regular iPhone 14 models, Apple is likely to raise the prices of the iPhone 14 Pro by up to $100. In addition to this, a well-known iPhone case leaker has shared identical silicone cases for the iPhone 14 line, which Apple will likely announce alongside the new phones at its September event, and you can learn more about it here.

Another leaker shared the iPhone colors he expects Apple to unveil in a few weeks:

  • iPhone 14: green, purple, blue, black, white and red. The pink was replaced with purple, according to his sources;
  • iPhone 14 Pro: Green, Purple, Silver, Gold and Graphite. He says the purple takes the place of Sierra Blue.

Three new Apple Watches are coming

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple will introduce three new Apple Watch models in 2022, in what he calls the most important update to the watch in years.

These watches may be unveiled at Apple’s event in September. The Apple Watch Series 8 will at least get a new body temperature sensor and better battery life. The Apple Watch SE is likely to see a second generation, while Apple is also preparing a rugged ‘Pro’ version of the current watch with a different design and premium finish for extreme sports.

Below, we’ve rounded up everything we know about these upcoming Apple watches, which are likely to be unveiled at Apple’s event in September.

AirPods Pro 2 at Apple’s event in September

In addition to the iPhone 14 series and the new Apple Watch models, Apple may present the new AirPods Pro 2 at its event in September.

With a design similar to the current generation, sources at 9to5Mac have confirmed that the next AirPods Pro model – codenamed B698 – will feature the next version of the H1 chip, Apple’s proprietary audio processor. Additionally, references to LC3 codec support on the AirPods Max beta firmware tease that the AirPods Pro 2 could be the first to add Bluetooth 5.2 support.

This codec will bring more stability and performance to wireless headphones. Not only that, but this new standard will help AirPods Pro 2 improve sound quality for voice calls and songs with higher bitrate support. Although Bluetooth Low Energy and the LC3 codec do not promise “lossless Bluetooth”, they will certainly improve sound quality significantly.

Apple’s Mixed Reality Headset

Apple Mixed Reality Headset rumors have intensified over the past year. During Apple’s event in September, the company may revive Steve Jobs’ catchphrase “One More Thing” to tease the company’s upcoming mixed reality headset.

Rumors currently expect it to be unveiled as early as the end of this year and go on sale in 2023. Apple’s event in September could be the perfect time for Apple to reveal to the public that it is entering a new market.

For example, earlier this year the company announced that it was working on a new Mac Pro without further details.

Are iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS 13 Ventura, watchOS 9 and tvOS 16 available at Apple’s September event?

It depends. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, iPadOS 16 has been delayed by at least a month as Apple aims for an October release — alongside macOS 13 Ventura. During Apple’s September event, its CEO Tim Cook is likely to announce the release date of iOS 16, watchOS 9 and tvOS 16.

iOS 16 code hints at Always-On Display on the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro. With a new lock screen, more focus filtering features and messaging improvements, users will have a lot to enjoy with this operating system.

New Macs and iPads may arrive a little later

Apple is also expected to introduce several new Macs and at least two iPads in 2022. While the company will unveil a new MacBook Pro in October, Apple could be preparing another keynote a month later to introduce new Macs and iPads.

In his newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said Apple has new high-end Mac minis and MacBook Pros for later this year. Sources at 9to5Mac have confirmed that Apple is working on a tenth-generation base model iPad and a new iPad Pro.

When will Apple hold its September event?

Apple will hold its iPhone 14 event on September 7, Wednesday. The invite teased an in-person event at the Steve Jobs Theater, though Bloomberg reported a few weeks ago that Apple was already recording its keynote.

With an earlier announcement, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Apple wants to report a stronger Q3, in addition to avoid supply constraints, as you can learn more about that here.

The “Far Out” message could mean that the company is aiming for an astrophotography feature or even the long-awaited support for satellite communication. We’ll find out in less than two weeks.
