An eight-year-old boy pulled from a Calgary public lake has died in hospital, police said.

EMS took the boy to Alberta Children’s Hospital, accompanied by a firefighter who continued CPR.
In a news release Wednesday, police said the child, identified only as Raviansh, died at a hospital as a result of drowning.
The drowning is considered non-criminal and police issued a statement on behalf of the child’s family.
“Our family is experiencing the deepest sorrow and grief as we deal with the sudden, tragic loss of our son,” the family said in a statement. “Raviansh was an amazing and loving child and brought so much joy to our hearts. As a precious son and little brother, we loved him dearly and will miss him.”
