A Kitchener man has been charged after two collisions in Toronto

A Kitchener man has been charged after allegedly hitting multiple pedestrians and a bicyclist Saturday afternoon.

At 11:57 a.m., the Toronto Police Service received reports of a vehicle collision at Yonge Street and St.Clair Avenue West.

An SUV driver reportedly hit a pedestrian on the west side of the intersection and another on the east side.

The pedestrian on the west side of the intersection is a 26-year-old man, but he was not injured.

The other man who was hit is 65 years old and was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver then fled the scene in the SUV.

Not long after, the driver of the same SUV hit a bicyclist at Jarvis Street and Maitland Place.

The cyclist, who is 25 years old, was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

After this incident, the police were able to locate and arrest the driver.

Bachu Mathew, 31, of Kitchener, was charged with multiple counts including: operating a vehicle causing bodily injury, failure to stop at the scene of an accident causing bodily injury and fleeing while pursued by a peace officer.

The accused is due in court on Sunday.
