Parts of two major freeways in Toronto were closed early this afternoon as police investigated a suspected “roadway shooting incident.”
Roads affected include the Don Valley Parkway northbound at the 401 Freeway and the 404 Freeway southbound at the 401 Freeway.
The eastbound collector lanes of Highway 401 were also closed just before Highway 404 in both directions. All freeways were reopened shortly after 1 p.m., but traffic remains somewhat heavy as drivers make their way through the area.
Sergeant Kerry Schmidt of the OPP said police were searching the highway for “police investigation purposes.”
He said witnesses reported seeing “road rage” between cars and gunfire.
No injuries were reported.
