Assassin’s Creed is getting a whole lot bigger with Infinity, a new live-action project that Ubisoft announced today during its Forward presentation. Infinity aims to tie several different games together while introducing ongoing content updates that will introduce even more settings and lifetime timelines.
Infinity is meant to be a hub, a “single entry point for fans” to get into Assassin’s Creed. The company vaguely explained further, saying that Infinity will “bring everyone together [the] different experiences and players together in meaningful ways.” Ubisoft also said it is looking to bring back standalone, multiplayer experiences to the Assassin’s Creed universe through Infinity. In short, whatever this platform is, it sounds a bit like Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which compiles several Halo games – like Halo 2 and Halo 4 – into one. Perhaps Infinity will do the same, housing some of the older Assassin’s Creed games while regularly adding new experiences for players to check out. Who knows?
This is the first time we’ve actually heard about this live game. We first learned about Infinity in July 2021, when Ubisoft confirmed the game’s existence after Bloomberg reported its leak. The company said at the time that the game was a “collaborative, cross-studio” project between Ubisoft’s Montreal and Quebec studios, possibly signaling a major franchise shake-up, but remained fairly tight-lipped about Infinity.

Along with Infinity, Ubisoft also gave us a look at Assassin’s Creed: Mirage, the next major entry that leaked earlier this month and will feature Valhalla supporting character Basim Ibn Ishaq as the main character. Scheduled to land in the spring of 2023 and originally created as an expansion to the 2020 Viking-themed action RPG, Mirage lets us explore a smaller world in 9th-century Baghdad and seemingly puts a greater emphasis on on the roots of the stealth action gameplay of the series.

Humble Bundle 2K Megahits Game Bundle for Covenant House
Provide housing and supportive services to youth facing homelessness. A collection of 2K games collected together. You can pay as much as you want to support the cause, but if you want access to some of the big hits like Borderlands 3, The Bioshock Collection, XCOM: The Ultimate Collection, and Sid Meier’s Civilizatrion VI, you’ll need to pay at least $16. But hey, that’s hardly anything compared to the $663 value you get from all 18 games combined.
Infinity and Mirage aren’t the only Assassin’s Creed projects Ubisoft is currently working on, however. The studio also announced two other “major games” in the franchise, codenamed “Neo/Hexe” and “Red,” that will supposedly be part of Infinity. In addition to these two titles, which are said to be set in the “last stages of the Holy Roman Empire” and Japan respectively, the company also revealed an Assassin’s Creed mobile game. It looks like these games could appear in 2024 at the earliest, but given the nature of game development in a global pandemic, it could drag into 2025 or 2026.
All of this comes after Chinese megacorporation Tencent invested nearly $300 million in the publisher. So don’t expect a shortage of killers anytime soon.
