Breath Of The Wild will be released next year

“Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” is finally on its way to an actual release.

Nintendo

It’s been five years since Breath of the Wild was released, but now it looks like its sequel is almost here and will be released in May next year.

Called Tears of the Realm, it appears to feature sky-based zones and the ability to traverse between them. The game engine also looks the same and seems to be a direct sequel to Breath of the Wild.

The air zones are also somewhat reminiscent of those in Twilight Princess, though obviously expanded and combined with what we’ve already seen in games like Skyward Sword.

Other than that, we don’t really know much else.

My only hope is that the overly fragile weapons and other items in Breath of the Wild are a bit sturdier this time around. Skyward Sword did a much better job with its wear and tear mechanics, so it was a bit odd that weapons would fall to pieces after almost no use.

It would also be great to see the return of proper dungeons as well. The shrines in Breath of the Wild were fun, but too short and numerous, resulting in them being quite repetitive.

One thing that stands out in the new game’s logo is that the master sword is damaged in some way or in the process of transforming into something else. Hopefully we’ll find out more about this in the coming months.

While I’m happy to know we have another core Zelda game on the way, I was hoping to see news about the Wii U remasters of Twilight Princess and Wind Waker coming to the Switch.

After the success of Skyward Sword HD, which was absolutely excellent, I thought Nintendo would have followed up with more classic Zelda remasters.

At least for now, Tears of the Kingdom is finally happening and will be released on May 12th.
