Pass it on now – billboard

Blink, the wait is finally over. After months of teasers, tour announcements, and tantalizing campaigns, BLACKPINK’s long-awaited second album, Born Pink, officially arrived on streaming Friday (September 16).

In addition to the album, fans were also treated to vibrant, neon colors that accompanied “Shut Down,” the lead single (also known as the “title track”) from Born Pink at Midnight.

Although Born Pink is only hours into its debut, BLACKPINK’s previous Billboard successes give some indication of how the album may perform on the charts. “Pink Venom,” fans’ first taste of the album, landed the four-track at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 after debuting at No. 22 on the September 3 chart. (“Ice Cream” featuring Selena Gomez, which appeared on BLACKPINK’s album, peaked at number 13 on the 2020 Hot 100.)

Meanwhile, the album was a big win for BLACKPINK. The group, which consists of members Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rosé, reached a record number 2 on the Billboard 200, where it stayed for a total of 26 weeks. The album included “How You Like That” and “Kill This Love”, which peaked at number 33 and number 41 respectively on the Hot 100.

Next up for the K-pop stars is the Born Pink World Tour. Beginning in October, the four-piece will make stops in South Korea, North America, Europe, and Australia, singing tracks from new album Born Pink as well as beloved hits from their previous EPs and solo endeavors.
