Pharmacies in Newfoundland and Labrador expect to begin receiving the new bivalent COVID vaccine next week. Patients are asked to note that supplies will be limited for the first few weeks.
Keith Bailey, a pharmacist at Shoppers Drug Mart, expects to be able to start administering the Moderna vaccine around the middle of the week, but it will take some time for it to be fully ready.
It’s also flu season. The province hasn’t seen many cases in the past two years, but most of the COVID restrictions are no longer in place.
He says to keep in mind that most Canadians can get the flu and COVID shots at the same time. This is optional for people under 12, but most others can get both vaccines at the same time.
