A local operator is building a successful ecotourism business.
Capt. Bob Bartlett of Trinity Eco-Tours on the Bonavista Peninsula says the core of ecotourism is observing wildlife in their natural environment with as little carbon footprint as possible.
He says the desire to see animals in pens, cages and pools is diminishing.
Bartlett says Newfoundland and Labrador has so much natural space that it can attract people from all over the world.
“We’re still a very wild place” and “a welcoming community,” Bartlett says.
