Paul Mezcal has spoken of feeling “really angry” when “rude” fans make comments about seeing his masculinity on screen when he meets them.
The 26-year-old actor recalled the “awkward” encounters he had with fans, which he spoke about in a candid interview with GQ magazine, alongside a sensational cover photo.
He admitted he felt “pissed off” when fans came up to him and commented on the size of his manhood after he stripped down for sex scenes in the hit series Normal People.

He recalls feeling particularly “embarrassed” once when a woman at a bachelorette party told him she had taken a picture of his manhood, but added that those fans were “thankfully the anomaly”.
He told the magazine that she burst out upon meeting him: “I didn’t think the show was any good, but I saw your Willie and I’ve got a picture!”
He added: “I remember that was the first time I was really angry, I was like, ‘This is bloody rude!’
“It’s embarrassing for you, it’s embarrassing for me, it’s embarrassing for my friends, and now I have to tell you no, but luckily they’re the anomaly.”

Paul said that while most fans are “really nice”, he has also had encounters with “drunk men” who say their girlfriend likes Normal People because they feel “ashamed” of enjoying the show.
Elsewhere in the interview, Paul also reflects on how he finds it difficult to cry on demand during filming, admitting that once he starts crying, he can’t stop.
The Aftersun star spoke about the challenges of emoting his roles and said he warns his crew ahead of time to keep moving once he starts crying, as he can’t do it again once he’s stopped.
His comments came as he posed up a storm in a sensational cover shoot for GQ, which saw him flaunt his abs in a sheer black top and dark trousers in one shot.

He gave the camera a sultry look as he posed in front of a blue backdrop in his sensational outfit while styling his brunette locks into a tousled style.
In an eye-catching cover photo, Paul cut a sharp figure in black trousers and a dark top, which he teamed with a statement gold jacket.
It comes after Paul revealed he may “regret the day” when he decided to quit social media, but he doesn’t think it’s “helpful to people”.
The actor who became known as Connell Waldron made the decision to deactivate his accounts in 2021 after finding fame overnight and now only has a secret, private Instagram account.

He told The Guardian: “I just don’t think it’s particularly helpful for people to see, like, literally you,” as he boxed his hands and framed his face.
Paul continued: “I thought I had to either get off the bus now or stay on it and I wanted to get off. In 10 years I might regret the day I threw away my social media, but look, it is what it is.”
A source told The Sun at the time: “Paul deactivated his Instagram account because it just became a drain. Felt like wasting time there, reading the comments isn’t good for anyone’s mental health.
“He has more important things going on in his life and he wants to focus his energy on his personal life and his work, he doesn’t need social media for that.” He is a private person and doesn’t feel the need to share everything online.
Tying the knot? Elsewhere, Paul and his girlfriend Phoebe Bridgers have also sparked rumors that they are engaged in recent weeks.
The source added that Paul doesn’t think it’s worth it to profit from “bargain deals” from brands he could reportedly charge six figures for.
They also claim that the Irish actor may reactivate his Instagram in the future, but is currently “enjoying” his break.

The Irish actor has been in a relationship with singer Phoebe for over two years.
The pair were first romantically linked in 2020 before making their red carpet debut at the LACMA Art+Film Gala in November and then becoming Instagram official in December.
In May of this year, the couple sparked engagement rumors at the California music festival when they mingled with guests at a party during the festival’s second weekend.
One partygoer reportedly remarked that Phoebe was making no secret of the fact that two people were set to walk down the aisle, but The Sun reported that she was not seen wearing an engagement ring.
This happened just months after the couple went Instagram official in a cute photo on social media.
The 27-year-old singer from Kyoto took to the photo-sharing app in December to confirm her relationship with a much-loved image of the two.
