Thank you too.

Well, it was a series of Bake Off.

Thank you so much for visiting this Guardian Live Blog every week. I’ve loved reading all your posts, chatting with you all, and enjoying the collective warmth of frustration and Bake Off inside jokes (I forget how the mango joke started, but we’re where we are.)

A quick personal thank you before I go to Kate and Alexi from The Guardian for ensuring this live blog runs every week and for all their help and guidance along the way.

Let’s hope Bake Off learns from its mistakes and knocks it out of the park in 2023. When Bake Off is at its best, it’s unlike anything else on British TV. His optimism and upbeat nature is really invigorating and heck, we all need a lot of it right now.

I’m on Twitter at @scottygb. See you on the internet. x

“This is the greatest achievement of my entire life.” – Friend.

Syabira was an absolute triumph from start to finish. Her baking was consistent. She was the only contestant to win Star Baker three times. In fact, since she won the whole show (and thus the final episode), I guess that makes her a four-time star baker!

Her use of scents was exceptional, defying the judge’s initial expectations. And then there are her showstoppers! I’m still thinking about her double mascara from last week. Not just because of the design, but because she dropped a few facts about it as she put the layers together, because the concepts were so well thought out: “If you unravel your genetic structure, which is your helix, you’ll have 67 billion miles of DNA,” she said. is that crazy?’

But what makes Syabira such a deserving Bake Off winner is her spirit. She has experienced setbacks in this race, but has always kept going, returning to the tent the next day with the same upbeat, determined demeanor. Her resilience is something she should really be proud of. Her ability to take criticism, learn from it, but never take it too personally is truly admirable, especially considering what the bakers had to endure with this series. My word, she deserved this win.

Thank goodness Bake Off got the big call right.

And the winner of Bake Off 2022 is… Syabira!

WHAT A DESERVING WINNER!

Dear Bake Off Producers – We Excited are long-time fans of this show. Congratulations and thank you for choosing a great set of bakeries 2022. Alas, some of the challenges do not involve baking this year. Add to this the lack or incomplete instructions on the technical features, the feeling that the bakeries were set up to fail, the time constraints that did not seem to reflect the needs of the task, the loss of the warm and friendly feeling during the assessment that helped this amateur baker to show such brilliant success, and you will know that we are really not satisfied with your program. Please revise your concept. Surely Bake Off season should be a joyous celebration of the art of baking.

Here we are.

And finally…this is Abdul.

A mixed bag for Abdul. Prue thinks his scones are a “complete failure” but his biscuits are a “triumph”.

I think we all know who will win the Bake Off after this challenge.

Scott Bryan

Next up…this is Syabira.

The face of the orangutan. I can’t get enough of him.

I can’t believe he’s being criticized.

Prue thinks there is too much buttercream, but Paul disagrees. She gets heaps of compliments: “your tastes are superb,” says Paul. He just wishes it was neater.

Now it’s time for the showstopper to rate…

Scott Bryan

First off… this is Sandro.

Oh, and we hear criticism among the compliments from the judges.

Words like “messy,” “chewing,” and “burnt.” Oh my God.

Scott Bryan

It’s time for the picnic! And look, the other bakers are back too.

Holy Glokimolo! This is Carol.

And Dawn! And raccoon tattoo fan James.

AND JANUSZ WEARING GLASSES WITH “CAKE TIME” ON THEM.

Janusz thinks Syabira will win. He’s been supporting her for weeks.

Scott Bryan

This has got to be the most frantic showstopper I’ve ever seen.

And yes, I have seen all the celebrity episodes. It was James Acaster’s level.

Scott Bryan

The sound effect as Sandro digs through the drawers is really exciting.
