Tyler West is EIGHTH star to quit Strictly Come Dancing after ‘toughest dance ever’

Tyler West became the eighth contestant to leave Strictly Come Dancing when he faced Molly Rainford in the dreaded dance-off on Saturday night.

Molly and Carlos Gu performed their Jive to Bandstand by Barry Manilow followed by Tyler and Dianne Buswell who danced to KC and the sunshine band mega mix in an attempt to impress the judges and stay in the competition.

After both couples danced a second time, the judges gave their verdicts and with two votes for Molly and one for Tyler, the deciding vote went to head judge Shirley Ballas.

Craig Revel Horwood chose to save Molly and Carlos, saying: “Wow, both couples danced so much better, they really did.

“Tyler, amazing thighs, this time, amazing. Molly, lighter, brighter, much more precise.

“I’m finding this really hard for the first time this season, but I’d like to save Molly and Carlos.”

Motsi Mabuse also chose to save Molly and Carlos, adding: “Yes, both pairs were better in this performance, I based my decision on the styles of technique and performance and I will save Molly and Carlos.”

Split Vote: After both couples danced a second time, the judges gave their verdicts and with two votes for Molly and one for Tyler, the deciding vote went to Shirley

Head judge: She chose to save Molly and Carlos, saying: “Well, I agree with my fellow judges, this is probably one of the hardest dances we’ve ever had to choose from.”

Time of his life: Asked by host Tess Daly about his time on the show, Tyler said: “I’m more than two steps away now!”

However, Anton Du Beke chose to save Tyler and Diane, saying: “It’s a testament to how amazing all the couples are at this point in the competition.

“We have a situation here where none of these couples in the competition deserve to be here when they could easily make it to the final.

“Brilliant performances from both couples for me, but one of them was more dynamic, the couple I’d like to save is Tyler and Diane.”

The End of the Road: Tyler and Diane looked devastated to end up in the bottom two

With two votes for Molly and Carlos and one vote for Tyler and Diane, it meant head judge Shirley Ballas would make the final decision.

She chose to save Molly and Carlos, saying: “Well, I agree with my fellow judges, this is probably one of the hardest dances we’ve ever had to choose.

“Both pairs have been outstanding, both have improved their performances, but I’m going to choose what I believe in, which is quality of movement and precision in the partnership, and I’m going to choose Molly and Carlos.”

Disappointing: Molly and Carlos were the first to realize they were facing the dreaded dance

Up: Fleur East and her partner Vito Coppola were delighted to make it to week ten after topping the chart on Saturday with the first 40 of the series

Asked by host Tess Daly about his time on the show, Tyler said: “I’m more than two steps away now! When you watch the show at home you wonder what it must be like to dance to it, it’s everything and more, it’s changed my life.

“This girl here sure changed my life. To think that I was some shy kid who never talked to anyone, never danced in front of millions, I can’t put it into words.

“It’s my mum’s favorite show, I bought it in Blackpool, my grandma, bless her, always looked after me on this trip.

“But more importantly, this show changed my life in the sense that it gave me confidence, a newfound family, every dancer, everyone in hair and makeup, a costume.

‘Changed my life’: When Tess asked him about his time on the show, Tyler said: ‘I’m more than two steps away now!’

“Judges, it’s been amazing dancing in front of you every week, I mean it.

“But this girl here, I’ve been blessed with the best, she’s what Strictly is all about and she’s changed my life, I’ve no doubt she’ll be in my life forever.”

Asked if she had any words for her partner, Diane said: “Words are endless! You were a real pleasure to work with when I say that, you came to every single session with the biggest smile on your face and it lit up the whole ballroom.

Tough decision: After both couples danced off for the second time, the judges gave their verdicts, with everyone saying how hard the choice was, but choosing to save Molly and Carlos

“You are such a talent, you really are and you should feel so proud, I am so proud of you, your family is so proud and your grandma is so proud of you. Thank you so much for everything.’

The results show opened with a rousing performance by Sam Ryder, who performed John Farnham’s You’re the Voice alongside all the Strictly pros in a beautiful ballroom number, and he later performed his latest single, All the Way Over.

The remaining seven couples will take to the dance floor next week when Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday 26 November at 7.15pm and the results will be shown on Sunday 27 November at 6pm on BBC One.

Lifelong friendship: Speaking about Diane, he said: “But this girl here, I’ve been blessed with the best, she’s what Strictly is about and she’s changed my life, I’ve got no doubt she’ll be in my life forever”
