Evry confirms customer parcels left outside at Stanley Depot

A major parcel delivery company has today confirmed that some customer parcels have been left outside depots due to back-up.

In a statement provided to The Northern Echo Everi, a major delivery company, said the cause was due to “capacity issues”.

Reports suggest parcels were left out in the elements at the Stanley depot in County Durham.

However, staff at the depot were keen to stress that this was not the case, arguing that the parcels were left outside for 10 minutes and were monitored the whole time.

Pictures from the depot show chaos with parcels being collected for delivery – thanks to what Everi confirmed as “volumes managed by Royal Mail Strikes”.

No parcels were observed to be kept outside for long periods of time and staff assured that all parcels were kept indoors.

An Everi spokesman said: “We can confirm that due to capacity issues following higher than normal volumes of parcels, caused in part by the Royal Mail strikes, in some cases our couriers are sorting parcels for outbound delivery.

“While this is not ideal, it is a temporary arrangement as our local team work hard to ensure all parcels arrive before Christmas. We have provisions for inclement weather.

“We regret that some customers are experiencing short delays in receiving their parcels.
