A YOUNG mother tragically killed in a horror crash in Baildon has been named locally.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on Baildon Road, near its junction with Pasture Road, late last night.
Tributes have been paid to 18-year-old Amber Deakin on social media, with many comments also being left on the Telegraph & Argus Facebook page.
It turned out that he had a young son.
Jessica Shaw wrote: “RIP Amber, love you so much girl.”
Simone Hands added: “Terrible start to the New Year her poor mummyless little boy.”
Tara Hebson said: “Fly high beautiful girl.”
“Heartbreaking, RIP Amber. Such a young life taken,” added Wendy O’Shea.
In a statement released this afternoon, a spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “Police can confirm that a woman has died following a serious collision last night in Baildon.
“An 18-year-old woman who was a passenger in the car died after the silver Vauxhall Vectra she was in overturned on Baildon Road near Pasture Road at around 11.47pm last night (Tuesday January 3)
“Five people were treated for injuries sustained in the collision.
“A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody.
“A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody
“The road is currently closed while inspections are carried out.
“The vehicle involved failed to stop for police and was pursued by police during the collision. It was referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), which announced an independent investigation.
“Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicle prior to the collision, or anyone who may have dash cam footage, is asked to contact police on 101 or use the live chat facility at www .westyorkshire.police.uk/contactus, citing log 1802 of January 3.”
An IOPC spokesman added: “We are investigating the circumstances surrounding a serious collision in the Bradford area last night where a vehicle overturned on Baildon Road just before 11.50pm.
“We were advised by West Yorkshire Police that shortly before the collision a pursuit was authorized after a car failed to stop for police.
“We understand a number of people have been taken to hospital following the incident. “We have sent investigators to the scene and to police procedures following the incident to begin gathering evidence.
“An independent investigation was announced by us at around 1.30am today. Our investigation is at a very early stage and no further details are available at this time.
