One person is in critical condition after a trailer explosion was reported in North York

One person was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries after a reported trailer explosion in North York late Wednesday.

Toronto Fire said they responded to a trailer in the area of Glencairn and Glen Park avenues, just east of Allen Road, around 11:45 p.m.

Upon arrival, crews found one person in a trailer with burns.

The man was handed over to paramedics. Toronto police said they suffered life-threatening injuries.

Toronto police said there were reports of a propane leak inside the trailer that caused the explosion.

Firefighters did not find a fire when they arrived, Toronto Fire said. They said they could not immediately confirm the explosion.

Toronto Fire investigators are investigating the incident and a fire watch has been set up.

Images from the scene Thursday morning showed several propane tanks on the grass outside the trailer, along with items from the home strewn about.

No other injuries were reported.

The incident comes just days after Ontario Fire Marshal John Pegg urged the public to redouble fire safety following the Hamilton fire that claimed the lives of two adults and two children.

Pegg said 2022 was the deadliest year for home fires in Ontario in more than 20 years, with 133 fire-related deaths.
