Large rocks fall on Flood Hope Road in Hope on January 5, 2023.
Several large rocks have fallen from the mountain and landed on a road in Hope.
Flood Hope Road between Silver Creek and the “town” of Hope was closed Thursday after the massive rock fell onto the road.
The District of Hope said operations personnel are on scene cleaning up.
“Please avoid the area if possible,” a spokesman said.
Road repairs and a safety assessment will need to be carried out before the road can be reopened.
Back in September, a forest fire caused slope instability and caused rocks to fall onto Highway 1.
Hope was hit not only by a forest fire, but also by severe flooding in November 2021 during a series of storms.
