The red Cadillac remains in Okanagan Lake near Peachland on Thursday.
A car that crashed into Okanagan Lake near Peachland last week remains in the water.
The red Cadillac crashed off Highway 97 in Okanagan Lake on the evening of December 27th. The four passengers, including two small children, were able to get out of the car, but a witness said a man and a woman were taken to hospital by ambulance.
As of Thursday, nine days after the crash, the car remains in the lake.
“The company that has to pull it is waiting for it to get that icy. I guess with the cold weather and the wind coming off the lake, it’s pretty icy out there,” said RCMP spokesperson Const. Mike Della-Paolera.
A Castanet reader sent a photo of the submerged car with a police car at the scene Thursday afternoon, but Const. Della-Paolera confirms that this is the same car that sank in the lake last week.
“We’ve had several calls, so every time he calls, an officer has to come out and make sure it’s the same car,” he said.
It is unclear when the car will be pulled from the lake.
