Split returns to Valorant with some changes.

Riot Games has revealed the patch notes for the upcoming Valorant 6.00 update and in the process revealed the long awaited update to the Split map along with some other tweaks and of course the addition of a new Lotus map.
While the main focus of the 6.00 update will be the new Lotus map and the battle pass update, there will also be a fairly significant update to the Split map, which was originally removed from the competitive map rotation last year. Now Split is back with more than a few changes to get used to.
The A site is the area with the most changes, with the A main being reworked to give attackers better timing while targeting the site. The walkway at the A rafters has also been removed so you won’t have a sneaky defender hiding there at a bad angle, and the A Tower has been leveled so defenders now have no extra cover for free.
In the middle, you can now drop silently, which should make getting around stealthy a lot easier, and you can no longer jump on top of the middle box, meaning that again there are fewer possible places for defenders to hide.
The main change in the B site is that the corner of the B Rope Pocket has been smoothed out, so it’s less of a rough corner to clear when you enter the site. This seems to have been a theme throughout the map, with many potential corners removed or made easier to check for attacking players.
If these changes have the desired effect, Split could return as one of the best cards in Valorant. In the early days, the map was loved by many, but as players got to know the game more, it became a map that was more frustrating than fun.
To compensate for the return of Split and the release of the new Lotus map, Breeze and Bind were removed from the competitive and unrated map rotation.
Elsewhere in the patch, a bunch of bugs have been fixed, and there’s a change to the way toggle zoom works, which should reduce any desync issues when your connection is struggling. Of course, with the start of a new episode comes a ranking reset, so you’ll have to start grinding to earn your rank again.
While patch 6.00 may be small when it comes to gameplay changes, it does of course bring with it a lot of new content. You can expect more major updates and agent tweaks in the coming weeks.
