Doctors described Damar Hamlin’s neurological function as “excellent” on Saturday as the Buffalo Bills safety continued to make progress in his recovery after having to be resuscitated on the field in a game at Cincinnati on Monday.
Providing their daily update on Hamlin, the Bills said the player continues to breathe on his own but remains in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Hamlin took a big step forward in his recovery Friday when he was taken off a ventilator and showed the ability to speak.
There was a post on the 24-year-old’s verified Instagram account on Saturday night saying that every love put into the world comes back three times over and thanking everyone who has “reached out to us and prayed “. It is also said that the response to his injury will make Hamlin stronger.
The post read: “When you put true love out into the world, it comes back to you 3 times over. The love has been overwhelming, but I am grateful to every single person who prayed for me and reached out. We re-created the world together behind it. If you know me, you know that this only makes me stronger. Long way to go keep praying for me!”

A few hours after the post, there was a tweet that said: “The love is felt and extremely real. No matter race or religion, all come together in prayer!”
Hamlin also did a brief live video conference Friday for his teammates, making several hand signs and saying, “I love you guys.”
Hamlin went into cardiac arrest and his heart stopped Monday night after doing something that appeared to be routine in the first quarter against the Bengals. The game was initially suspended before being officially canceled later in the week.

Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin is breathing on his own again and is even able to hold conversations with his teammates after suffering a cardiac arrest earlier this week during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals football team.
The Bills plan to honor Hamlin and the first responders and medical personnel who cared for the player when they close out the season Sunday by hosting the New England Patriots.
The NFL will also show support for Hamlin during all Week 18 games beginning Saturday afternoon, including a pregame moment of support, painting Hamlin’s No. 3 on the 30-yard line and pregame jerseys with “Love for Damar 3 “. The Bills will also wear “3” jerseys.
On Saturday, the Steelers honored Hamlin, who is from the Pittsburgh area, by delivering toys, books and school supplies to Kelly & Nina’s Daycare, where the player hosts an annual toy drive. Fans, players and team owners also made donations to Hamlin’s Chasing M’s Foundation, which had raised just over $8.2 million by Saturday afternoon.
