First responders say one person has died after a camp fire in Toronto’s west end.

Const. Laura Brabant says police responded to multiple reports of a cell tower fire in the city’s Liberty Village neighborhood just after 6 a.m.

Fire Captain Bill Papaconstantinou says emergency crews arrived and extinguished the fire before setting up camp in the area.

He said one person was found dead right at the base of the fire.

Papaconstantinou says it appears the victim either lived or was temporarily staying under the cell tower in an enclosure.

He says a multi-jurisdictional investigation is underway between the Toronto Fire Department, the Office of the Chief Coroner, the Fire Marshal’s Office and Toronto Police.
