Applications for Alberta Accessibility Payments begin on January 18

Starting January 18, Albertans 65 and older who do not receive the Alberta Pensioner Benefit, as well as eligible parents with children under 18, can apply online through the government portal or in person to receive $600 from the government.

Payments will be received in monthly installments of $100.

To be eligible for the payments, the household must have an annual income of less than $180,000.

Parents will receive a total of $600 for each dependent child under 18.

To apply for payments online, Alberta residents must have a verified Alberta.ca account.

Residents can apply for an account or confirm if their account has been verified online.

The online payment application portal will be available from January 18 on the same website, the government announced on Monday morning.

Applications can be submitted in person at any Alberta Registration Agent or through the 50 Alberta Support Offices located across the province.

Albertans who already receive regular monthly benefits through Assured Income for Severe Disability (AISH), Income Support, Alberta Seniors Benefit, People with Developmental Disabilities (PDD), and foster parents and caregivers for relatives, will automatically receive their first payment in January. 31 and you do not need to register through the portal.

Payments will be received in the same format as the recipient’s regular monthly benefit.

They will also be treated as exempt income for AISH and Income Support recipients.

Recipients of these programs who are parents of children under the age of 18 can also apply online to receive $600 per child under the age of 18.
