Two Edmonton pawn shop employees are recovering from non-life-threatening injuries after being shot during a Dec. 16 robbery.
The robbery, which took place at the store at 118 Avenue and 46 Street, was called to police around 1:45 p.m.
Police said two men entered the store around 1:30 p.m. One smashed windows, disposing of handfuls of jewelry in a bag and also stole cash.
The other suspect entered the office where the employees were working at their desks and pointed a gun at them. Before leaving, the second man made the officers lie on the ground and shot them. The couple fled on foot.
Both employees received medical attention and are now at work. Both male employees were shot in the leg.

That level of violence, especially when it’s unprovoked, is very “strange” and “unnecessary,” said Det. Mike Walkham, adding that officers complied with all of the suspect’s requirements.
Mitchel Zohner, who owns Big C Pawn with his mother, was working at the store that day. He said it struck him that they were shot even after following all orders and complying with the suspects.
