A heavy rainfall warning has been issued for North Vancouver, West Vancouver

Remove the galoshes and clear the drain. The north coast is in for a wet few days.

A heavy rainfall warning has been issued by Environment Canada, with rain starting tonight and continuing into Thursday.

In Metro Vancouver, areas of North and West Vancouver near the North Shore Mountains are expected to feel the brunt of the weather system, along with Coquitlam and Maple Ridge.

Areas of Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast will also be affected.

Rainfall totals of 60 to 120 millimeters are expected, with the heaviest amounts of rain near the North Shore Mountains.

Environment Canada warns that the heavy rain could cause water to accumulate on roads, such as sections of the Upper Levels Highway, and cause localized flooding. Washouts near streams, drains and rivers are also possible.

The rain is expected to taper off later in the day on Friday.
