There were no injuries after the fire at the Cambridge camp

A section of the eastbound 401 in Cambridge was shut down for several hours overnight due to a fire at a nearby campground.

On Wednesday, around 9:40 p.m., the OPP tweeted that the highway would be closed between Hespeler Road and Franklin Boulevard.

Cambridge Fire says the fire started in a campsite and no one was injured.

The regional police established that the fire was accidental, only a tent was damaged and they will not conduct an inspection.

On Thursday morning, Cambridge Fire confirmed they would be at the camp to determine the cause. There are no reports of casualties as a result of the fire.

Around 3 a.m., the OPP tweeted that the highway had reopened.

Video posted on Twitter showed flames moving through the woods along the eastbound lanes of the 401.
