A whopping $480,000 total comes in for Cowboys-Buccaneers

The wild card round of the NFL playoffs concludes Monday night when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys are currently 2.5-point road favorites at BetMGM, but the total was what caught the eye of one bettor at BetMGM late Monday afternoon.

The big bet comes under

When the Cowboys and Buccaneers met in Week 1, the defenses were front and center as Tampa Bay cruised to a 19-3 victory. A lot has changed for both teams over the past four months, but one better at BetMGM expects points to come first again on Monday night.

On Monday afternoon, a bettor at BetMGM risked $480,000 betting that the Cowboys vs. Buccaneers game would fall below a combined 46.5 points. The bettor received -120 odds on the bet, paying extra to secure an extra point from the total. If the bet wins, the bettor will win $400,000. The actual total without alternatives for the game is currently set at 45.5 points. As of Monday morning, 63% of bets and 67% of money were backing the game to exceed that amount.

Overall, Tampa Bay finished the season with four of their last five games going over the final total. The Cowboys’ last two games were under the total, but before that Dallas had five straight games and seven of eight games over the total.

All five games we had to open this year’s playoffs went over the total. Last season saw a similar trend where the favorites went 5-1 against the spread during wild card weekend. The one favorite that fails to cover? The Cowboys in their game against the 49ers. Perhaps Dallas is here to break another betting trend in this year’s wild card round. A bettor has 480,000 reasons to hope this is the case.
