Hwy 97 blast closure

Interstate 97 north of Summerland will be closed for an hour Monday starting at 1 p.m. for blasting.
Commuters along the corridor have experienced intermittent delays of 15 to 20 minutes or more throughout the month due to ongoing work on the slope, which is expected to be completed by the end of January.
This closure will last from 1 to 2 p.m
The area was the site of a major rock slide in February 2019, and when more debris tumbled down the slope in November 2022, the Department of Transportation stepped in for a further review, deciding more mitigation work was needed.
The closure will be between Bridgeman Road and N Beach Rd. for 4.5 kilometers.
