Pointe-Claire Mayor Tim Thomas and City Council members confirmed at a council meeting yesterday the appointment of Benoit Fillion as Director of Engineering.
In the role on an interim basis since Oct. 12, Mr. Fillion has demonstrated to the city manager’s office and the hiring committee that he is the best candidate for the job.
“With more than 15 years of experience in the City of Pointe-Claire, City Manager Ms. Verden and I are confident that Mr. Fillion will be able to continue the important mission of the Engineering Department: ensuring the longevity and proper functioning of all public facilities. with a view to sustainable development and improving the quality of life of citizens. We congratulate him and wish him well in his new role,” said Mayor Tim Thomas.
A member of l’ordre des ingénieurs du Québec, Benoît Fillion holds a graduate diploma in construction technology and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He began his career in 1999 as a site supervisor for Vallée Lefebvre et associés in Laval, then obtained the position of construction technician with the city of Pointe-Claire in 2000, where he held the position of project engineer between 2005 and 2007. After after After brief stints in the City of Kirkland and the City of Montreal, he returned to the City of Pointe-Claire in the fall of 2007 in the Engineering Department as a Department Manager. He became a planner in 2013 in the Engineering and Buildings department and finally a planner, strategic control, before being appointed interim director of the engineering department. During his career at Pointe-Claire, he held the position of interim director three times.
